Saxophonist, Composer, Bandleader, Educator

Rajiv Halim is a saxophonist, composer, and educator from Chicago. Internationally, Rajiv has performed at venues and festivals in Canada, Poland, Belize, and Taiwan. Nationally, Rajiv has performed and/or recorded with many great musicians, including Jennifer Hudson, Chance the Rapper, Martha Reeves, The Four Tops, and others. A highlight of Rajiv’s recording career came in 2016 when he contributed saxophone parts to “Finish Line” by Chance the Rapper for his Grammy Award-winning project, Coloring Book.

Rajiv has released two albums as a leader: Foundation (2015) and Altoizm (2021), a project that was co-led by fellow saxophonists Greg Ward and Sharel Cassity along with pianist Richard D. Johnson. Rajiv has also performed in the orchestras of a variety of musicals, including Ain’t Misbehavin’ (2014, Porchlight Music Theatre), The Black Clown (2018, American Repertory Theatre; and 2019, Mostly Mozart Festival), and World Goes ‘Round (2021, Marriott Theatre Lincolnshire). As an educator, Rajiv teaches private lessons and weekly sectionals at Hinsdale Central High School and private lessons at Oak Park River Forest High School.
