Sam Kirk’s work is a visual exploration of cross-cultural intersections, walking the viewer through various layers of one’s identity. A celebration of culture and individuality, her work aims to inspire pride and recognition for underrepresented communities. She uses a multi-layered approach to communicate with her audience throughout the US, exhibiting in galleries and museums, leveraging the public space with large-scale murals and filling voids within marketplaces via merchandise and everyday goods. Born and raised on the South Side of Chicago, Sam makes work that is heavily influenced by working class communities and the politics we have been fighting for generations. She has received commissions from private collectors and commercial clients including Major League Soccer, Comcast, Don Julio, Guinness, Toyota, and Choose Chicago for SXSW, among others. In addition to her fine art career, Sam creates custom artwork for non-profit organizations to spur engagement with the communities they serve.
