GREENHOUSE is an album recording and placemaking collaboration that aims to inspire growth and healing. With their transparent frames letting light and nutrients in, greenhouses create an atmosphere for plants to bloom. I believe that people, in the same manner, can create an atmosphere within themselves and others where our flowers can thrive (our gifts, talents, and purpose). Ever since releasing my single “Roses," I’ve wanted to make a full album around this theme of blossoming for ourselves and others. Partnering with world-renowned musicians Marquis Hill and Terry Hunter, I plan to produce an album of lush soundscapes reminiscent of beautiful, flourishing gardens. Additionally, by working with community members, we will organize performances of the songs in vacant lots around the city, transforming them into places of abundance and possibility. I am excited to share this as my most vulnerable and tender work to date, and invite people to make the songs their own as they explore their own healing journey.

About This Project

The concept for GREENHOUSE came when I was considering leaving a 9-to-5 job and longing for the freedom to grow in my own musical voice. Taking a leap of faith, I began a career as an independent artist. As my career flourished, I felt so much gratitude for this life and to be able to nurture my creativity, tend to my sons, and explore the different ecosystems of Chicago’s musical landscape. Over time I was inspired to put words to a page, sprouting new songs that reflected this feeling, like “Roses” and others that have yet to be professionally recorded. Now that these songs have taken root, it’s time to nurture them and create GREENHOUSE, the full album, as I always hoped it would be.

What’s been holding us back is the proper funding, because our aspirations are to record, market, and distribute this album the best way possible. With this campaign, I’m hopeful that my friends and fan-base will help me create this gift of music that will last beyond our lifetimes. In addition to the album, the curated performances will create togetherness and conversations to support one another and grow as a community.

With funding in place, we plan to finalize the recording this spring, begin promotion in April, and organize the album release and concerts in May and June 2023.
